Although the fourth quarter has already begun, experts from the analytical company Counterpoint Research have just summed up the results of the second quarter in the global smartphone market. They note that the dynamics of the market in quantitative and monetary terms is different. So, the company Xiaomi, rapidly increasing deliveries, was able to outstrip Apple in the number of shipped smartphones and is now second only to Samsung. However, the distribution of revenue and operating profit has changed little. Here, as before, Apple is in the lead by a wide margin from competitors. In particular, when looking at operating income, Apple accounted for 75% of the operating income of the entire industry for the quarter. For comparison, Samsung, which is in second place in terms of this indicator, received only 13%.
Apple is also the leader in terms of revenue, accounting for 40% of the market. The second-largest company Samsung holds 15%. At the same time, if we count the number of devices sold, Apple’s share is only 13%. A more complete and visual representation of the dynamics of the market is given by charts. The upper graph reflects the distribution of supplies, the middle one – revenues, the lower one – profits:
