Traditionally held on Independence Day, the Cry of the Excluded was held this Wednesday (7th) in several Brazilian capitals. The demonstrations are a counterpoint to pro-government acts.
This year, the theme of the demonstrations was: “Life in First Place: Brazil: 200 years of Independence for whom?”.
In São Paulo, protesters went to the Sé Cathedral square to protest against hunger. In addition to the speeches, the participants distributed food in the region. Social movements and trade union centrals were among the organizers.
In Rio de Janeiro, the demonstration took place in the center of the capital, at the intersection of Avenida Presidente Vargas and Rua Uruguaiana, where they also protested against hunger and poverty.
In the capital of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, the movement took place at Praça Vaz de Melo. In Vitória (ES), the act was held in the Gurigica neighborhood.
The streets of the capitals of southern Brazil also received protesters this Wednesday.
In the Northeast, there were manifestations of the Cry of the Excluded in capitals such as Salvador (BA), Maceió (AL), Natal (RN), Fortaleza (CE), Recife (PE) and Aracaju (SE).
Acts were also carried out in capitals such as Cuiabá (MT), Macapá (AP) and Rio Branco (AC).
