Senator Vanderlan Cardoso (PSD-GO), president of the Senate Economic Affairs Committee, said in an interview with CNN this Saturday (11), that the country cannot continue with the current interest rate, of 13.75%.
“We have to, in a mature way, with dialogue and numbers in our hands, look for an alternative so that interest rates are reduced”, evaluated the parliamentarian.
In Cardoso’s assessment, part of the interest rate increases promoted by the Central Bank (BC) were abusive.
The Senate should vote, next week, on an invitation for BC president Roberto Campos Neto to attend the House to provide clarifications to senators.
“haddad [ministro da Fazenda] you are right when you say that companies have taken out loans at much lower interest rates than the current ones. This makes it difficult to honor these commitments,” added Cardoso.
