Couple arrested after staying at luxury hotel with cloned card in RJ

A couple was arrested after staying at a luxury hotel with a cloned credit card, in the Santa Teresa neighborhood, in downtown Rio de Janeiro, this Wednesday (25).

The Civil Police of RJ received information that Jorge Felipe Dias Gomes and Jaqueline de Sousa Firmino had been staying in luxury hotels with cloned virtual credit cards.

Officers from the 19th Police Precinct (Tijuca) located the suspects and made the arrests. The couple was in one of the most expensive suites in the hotel and had spent R$20,000 with a fraudulent card belonging to a resident of the west side of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.

After being arrested, Jorge and Jaqueline confessed that they acquired the card details through an internet contact. See the moment when the prisoners arrive at the police station.

The police also found that the couple had stayed at the same hotel in Santa Teresa on other occasions, always using fraudulent cards belonging to other people.

The suspects have already been taken to the José Frederico Marques Prison, in the Benfica neighborhood, also in the central area of ​​Rio.

They will be charged with the crime of qualified theft through fraud with the participation of agents. The penalty is imprisonment of 2 to 8 years with a fine.

On social media, the suspect showed off his leisure time at the establishments where he was staying.
