Couple dies and 21 are injured in car-bus accident in Búzios

A couple died and at least 21 other people were injured in an accident between a car and an intercity bus, on Saturday night (5), on RJ-102, at Armação dos Búzios, in the Lagos Region of Rio de Janeiro. .

According to the Fire Department, the couple was in the passenger car, and, due to the impact of the collision, ended up getting stuck to the hardware and died on the spot. The names of the victims were not disclosed.

The Montes Brancos bus collective, which belongs to the Salineira group, was on the Búzios x Cabo Frio line, and was carrying about 30 passengers, when, according to witnesses, the driver of the car lost control of the direction, invaded the opposite lane, and crashed. in front of the bus.

Teams from the Fire Department and Samu were called to the scene. No word yet on what caused the crash.

According to Búzios City Hall, 19 people who were on the bus were admitted to the Dr. Rodolpho Perisse. Still according to the municipality, one remains hospitalized in a stable state of health, and another three are under observation.

The others, on the other hand, received medical care at the unit and were discharged during the morning of this Sunday (6). Two other victims of the accident were taken to the Hospital Central de Emergencies (HCE), in Cabo Frio.

The accident

The crash happened shortly after 10:50 pm, on the highway that connects Cabo Frio and Búzios. Images recorded by the security camera of a condominium, located on the side of the road, caught the accident. In the video, it is possible to see the exact moment when the car invades the wrong way and hits the collective.

Experts were at the scene and made a preliminary technical report. The 127th Police Station opened an inquiry to investigate the circumstances of the accident. The victims’ bodies were removed from the scene and taken to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) in Cabo Frio.
