Willingness for a child can work wonders. And of course it is never too late. An Indian woman gave birth to her first child at the age of 70, making her one of the oldest mothers in the world for the first time. Jivunben Rabari and her husband Maldari, 75, proudly showed their son – whose name has not been revealed – to reporters, saying the arrest was made through IVF.
Rambari said she did not have an ID to prove her age, but told reporters she was 70, making her one of the oldest first mothers in the world. However, another Indian woman, Eramati Mangayama, is believed to be the eldest when she had twin girls in September 2019 at the age of 74.
Rabari and Maldari, from a small village called Mora in Gujarat, India, have been married for 45 years and have been trying unsuccessfully for a baby for decades.
“One of the rarest cases I have seen”
Dr Banusali said: “When they first came to us, we told them they could not have a child at such an old age, but they insisted. It was one of the rarest cases I have ever seen. “
The chances of a woman in her 70s getting pregnant, of course, are virtually zero, because most women have gone through menopause between the ages of 40 and their early 50s.
But the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) claims that any woman of any age can get pregnant with medical help as long as she has a “normal uterus,” even if she no longer has ovaries.
Doctors use an egg donated by a much younger woman and fertilized outside the body using a man’s sperm. Eventually, the fetus is placed in the woman’s womb in the hope that she will become pregnant.
There have been several cases of women in their 60s and 70s having children through in vitro fertilization in India.

Eramati Mangayama is believed to be the oldest woman in the world to give birth after giving birth to twins through IVF at the age of 74.
The woman gave birth to twin girls in a “medical miracle” on September 5, 2019, after in vitro fertilization treatments involving a donor egg and her husband’s sperm.
The world’s oldest mother was officially registered by the Guinness Book of Records, Maria Del Carmen Busanda De Lara, who was 66 years and 358 days old when she gave birth to twin boys, in December 2006.
