One Couple was arrested for the death of his own son, 2 years old this Saturday (12), in houses in the neighborhoods of Benfica and Tomás Coelho, both in the north of Rio de Janeiro. The suspects were arrested by civil police from the 19th DP (Tijuca) after the investigation pointed out that the child was beaten by his parents.
Last Wednesday (9), the child arrived dead in a hospital unit in the state capital and a police team went to the scene to investigate the circumstances of the fact. According to the agents, the boy would be at a caregiver’s house when he got sick and was rescued.
Civil Police investigations showed that the parents themselves assaulted the child. The police found that Garato had bruises on his head even before being handed over to the caregiver.
The couple was already investigated for attempted murder against the child, who was under the custody of his paternal grandfather, after the expedition of protective measure.
Testimonials and medical reports led to the police authority to serve arrest warrants for a major qualified homicide and breach of urgent protective measure.
