A couple from Madureira, a neighborhood in the north zone of Rio de Janeiro, woke up scared by a shooting that took place in the street where they live, around 3:30 am this Friday (9). A stray bullet even pierced the wall of the room where they slept.
Businesswoman Gisella Maia told CNN that she and her husband woke up to the sound of shots and decided to crawl towards the bathroom, where they remained crouched until the exchange of fire ended.
Upon getting up, residents realized that a large-caliber bullet had pierced the bedroom wall and hit another wall of the house. Gisella says that she was about 20 centimeters from the place hit by the shot and that her hair got dirty with dust.
Despite the scare, the couple is fine and did not report the case to the police, but recorded a video to record what happened.
In a note, the military police of Rio de Janeiro reported that police officers from the battalion located in Rocha Miranda were called to respond to a case of vehicle theft on the street where the couple resides. During the police approach, the suspects would have fired several times at the agents, initiating the shootout, which ended when the criminals fled.
The car, which had been stolen, was recovered. The PM says that the action left no injuries. The case was registered at the 30th DP in Rio de Janeiro, in Marechal Hermes.
