The Civil Police of São Paulo arrested, on Tuesday afternoon (27), the owners of the private school Pequiá, located in the south zone of the capital of São Paulo, investigated for mistreatment and torture against students.
Justice had accepted the request for temporary arrest made by the Civil Police. However, the couple was on the run. They must pass custody hearing this Wednesday (28).
The case came to light after a former teacher at the school used a cell phone to record the attacks.
In one of the scenes, a one-year-old child is yelled at to put away toys. In another, a boy appears lying on the floor for having urinated on his clothes. Another scene shows a second boy tied with a blouse to a post.
It was the teacher, in possession of the images, who went to the police station to denounce the practices. In an interview with CNN she reported the punishments and aggression imposed on children when something did not happen as expected by the owners.
“Even in terms of peeing, they were punished. There was the case of a child who did too much and was punished by being put in a sandbox or sitting in a drain all day. There was also a case of staying the whole day with the needs in clothes. They were punished for whatever reason,” she said.
Anny also declared that, in addition to the mistreatment, the owners humiliated the children with adjectives such as “pisser”, “dumb”, among other insults.
The delegate responsible for the investigation, Fábio Daré, said that, so far, 16 people have been heard, including teachers and parents of students. And that, although the arrest was decreed, the accused were not located and, therefore, are considered outlaws.
In a note, the Secretariat for Public Security reported that the “Civil Police are taking steps to locate and arrest those responsible for a children’s school, investigated for mistreatment, in Vila Mariana, after the Judiciary responded to the arrest request made by the police authority. of the 6th Police District”.
The Secretary of Education of the State of São Paulo, on the other hand, said that “it is against any type of violence, whether inside or outside schools” and added that “the Centro Sul teaching board opened an investigation into all the reports mentioned and forwarded the process of inquiry to Seduc-SP, where the parties will be heard and all documents will be analyzed; upon completion, appropriate measures will be taken”.
