He is 27 and she is 74 and is the living proof that o love he hasn’t looked in years. Devaughn Aubrey and Kathi Jenkins were introduced to each other on an adult dating website, both claiming they weren’t looking for anything serious. Instead they found love.
The couple from Texas who almost half a century apart – 47 years to be exact– started dating in 2012 and are now engaged and planning to get married soon. They don’t hesitate to talk about the love they feel and stand up to their critics asking everyone to dare to love and do in their lives what really makes them smile.
Kathi, who is retired, has never married. He has four children, 13 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
“It’s perfect for me. he has life experience and teaches me a lot. We never fight, we always talk without tensions and shouting and I trust her 100%. He knows how to make me feel better when I’m angry and sad. I like bigger women, even if they need a P to move around. I’ve never been concerned about that,” the 27-year-old told SWNS, as relayed by the New York Post.
She says this relationship is the best and most meaningful she has ever had. “No one has ever loved me more completely. Devaughn is kind and supportive. She considers me beautiful, talented and intelligent,” says the 74-year-old.
The reactions
But this love climbs its own barriers. Because Devaughn and Kathi may feel like they’ve found their other half, but their surroundings don’t. The reactions are many for the almost five decades that separate them. After some time, however, they accepted it and now they fully support them.
“I told my mother about her when we started dating. At first she thought I was joking about her age, until we celebrated our birthdays together and I showed her pictures of us. My parents and my brothers know I like big women,” says Devaughn. The 27-year-old, who works at Walmart, was married when he was 24 but divorced shortly before he met the 74-year-old.
“I have friends Kathi’s age. Some people are worried about me wanting to have kids and can’t understand why I want to be with someone so much older than me. Nevertheless, they remain supportive. Because of the big age difference some people think she’s rich and I’m after her money, which is not the case at all” points out.
The pair of wants long-distance relationships to be stigmatized, love to just be love, and encourage others to embrace their feelings. “If you love someone older, go ahead, do what makes you happy. This is the best relationship I’ve ever had,” Jenkins said.
“I think we should all do what makes us happy, no matter what other people think or feel, be spontaneousAubrey agrees. “Some people say it’s inappropriate, but for us it’s the right thing to do.”
