The São Paulo Court denied Suzane von Richthofen’s request to reduce the number of psychology and psychiatry sessions she routinely undergoes. She is serving a 38-year sentence for her involvement in the death of her parents.
According to the Court of Justice, Suzane receives psychological support in psychiatric sessions twice a week at the Centro De Atenção Psicossocial de Bragança Paulista, in the interior of São Paulo.
The request presented by Suzane’s defense states that the psychiatrist suggested spacing three months between sessions and that the psychologists suggested that the service take place once a month. However, the request was denied.
The defendant also claims that she has been undergoing uninterrupted weekly online treatment since January 2023, and that, according to her, it has provided important support in her personal and social insertion issues.
“The team of professionals highlights that [Suzane] She attends all scheduled appointments on time, appearing calm, without complaints, adapted to her routine as a law student, maternal care, home management,” said the defense.
“The psychiatrist clarified that the aggravated woman regularly attends scheduled monthly appointments and has not presented psychopathological changes that justify any mental disorder”, claimed the defense.
According to the Court, the Public Prosecutor’s Office rejected the request, meaning it was not possible to change the frequency of services.
“What we have is that the results of the services have been positive for resocialization and recovery”, stated the text. “I understand that the average satisfactory service is twice a week by the psychology or psychiatry that carries out analyses,” said the decision.
THE CNN contacted Suzane von Richthofen’s defense and is awaiting a response.
