A Russian court has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the mother of the late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny against the Arctic Circle prison colony where he died because she claimed Navalny himself was not the plaintiff, a close aide said today. Ivan Zhdanov, a former adviser to Navalny, said the court in the small town of Labitnangi, near the prison colony, dismissed the suit on the grounds that Navalny himself should be the plaintiff. “Alexei had filed several lawsuits for the non-provision of medical care in the prison colonies.
