Court orders arrest of two PCC money laundering suspects in bus companies in SP

The São Paulo Court ordered the preventive detention of Alexandre Salles Brito, known as Buiú, and Décio Gouveia Luís, known as Décio Português, for participating in an alleged money laundering scheme by the criminal organization PCC in the transport company UPBus.

Alexandre was arrested by Military Police teams this Tuesday morning (16). Décio is still at large.

Judge Leonardo Valente Barreiros, from the 1st Court of Tax Crimes, Criminal Organization and Laundering of Goods and Valuables in the Capital, also accepted the complaint from the Public Ministry of São Paulo and made defendants the 19 accused of involvement in an alleged money laundering scheme in UPBus, a public transport company that operates in the East Zone of the capital.

Understand the case:

The Public Ministry of São Paulo (MPSP) launched an operation that targets two bus companies that operate municipal lines in São Paulo, identified as intermediaries for laundering money from organized crime.

According to the MPSP, the so-called “Operation End of the Line” targets the companies UPBus and TW, which transport around 700,000 passengers daily in the capital of São Paulo. Both are paid by the city hall and would have received more than R$800 million from public coffers last year alone.

Investigations indicate that these companies are linked to the criminal faction Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) and used to secure money obtained from various crimes, such as drug trafficking and robberies.

The MPSP reported that the São Paulo Court has already ordered the blocking of more than R$600 million from the targets to guarantee the payment of collective moral damages.

The operation launched this morning has the support of the Federal Revenue Service, CADE and the Military Police. More than 400 of these agents are mobilized.
