Court orders preventive detention of man who attacked manager with a shovel

The Mato Grosso Court decreed the preventive detention of Danielson Martins Paiva, 29, accused of attack the manager from a supermarket in Sinop with a blow to the head, using a shovel last Saturday (18).

The decision was made by judge Rosângela Zacarkim dos Santos, during a custody hearing held last Sunday (19).

The judge highlighted the “brutality of behavior ” by Paiva, who attacked the victim from behind, while she was on the phone. “Furthermore, the preventive detention of the accused is necessary to protect the physical integrity of the victim”, added the judge in her decision.

In her analysis, the judge shared the risk that the attacker’s freedom could pose to the victim’s safety, considering the degree of violence of the attack. “The factual data are sufficient to demonstrate that the case goes beyond normality”, he added.
