As for the nuance, it is better to choose it at least one tone lighter, because darker shades tend to make hair flat and unnatural and, with washes, reveal candid roots faster.

Tools and steps for a sure result

The challenge of covering gray hair can also be won by equipping yourself with the correct equipment. A professional bowl, made of rigid plastic and with high sides, allows you to mix cream and pigments more accurately than a recycled container which (inevitably) is never large or deep enough. Using the same principle, it is also advisable to get brushes, wide, narrow and with diagonal bristles: they guarantee the best application on notoriously difficult areas such as the roots on the forehead and the sides of the face because they require precision work.

Before mixing the color, the work area must be organized with all the necessary equipment. In addition to the contents of the kit, the bowl and the brush, you need 5 or more clothespins in case of flowing hair. The instructions must be clearly visible so that they can be consulted throughout the duration of the treatment. It seems superfluous, but this precaution is of great help!

After having carefully amalgamated the activating cream and the pigments, the lengths should be divided into 4 sections in the case of medium lengths, or in 6 or more if they are long and thick, stopping each lock with the clips. The coloring cream should be distributed on the regrowth with the brush (large on the surface of the head and small on the roots that frame the forehead and sides of the face). In order for the color to take well, it is important to proceed calmly, massaging the product very well. At the end of the work, they wait 20 minutes before spreading it also on the lengths, where it is left on for another quarter of an hour. Massaging the garment for another 3-5 minutes softens the product, thins it and facilitates the rinsing phase.
