A study by the National Association of Private Hospitals points to an increase of 655% of cases of Covid-19 infection, considering the care provided in all health institutions that are affiliated to the entity. The survey was carried out in 11 states and the Federal District and compared the week of holiday season with the previous one.
The survey also highlights the 270% increase in cases of influenza in private health units.
The study shows that 88% of health institutions registered a significant increase in demand for care for both viruses.
Although the national average growth was 655% of Covid-19 cases in private hospitals, some care units in the country reported a 1,000% increase in cases during the holiday period, compared to the previous week.
In total, the hospitals participating in the survey registered more than 13,000 cases of Covid-19 among patients who sought healthcare facilities. Among the consultations, 32% resulted in hospitalizations.
Regarding influenza, there were almost 8 thousand confirmed cases and 22% of patients were hospitalized.
