The spread of the Covid-19 epidemic is accelerating in England. According to an official study published on Tuesday, January 19, one in eight people in the country had been infected with the new coronavirus in December, marking a marked increase compared to the previous month, when there was one in eleven. London, particularly affected by the latest wave, has meanwhile recorded an increase of nearly 85% of deaths compared to the average recorded the same week over the past five years. Health Minister Matt Hancock, who contracted the virus last year, announced on Twitter on Tuesday that he would observe a period of quarantine until Sunday after possible contact with an infected person.
