Covid-19: new outbreak of cases in the United States

Health officials feared this development of the health situation after the displacement of millions of Americans on the occasion of the Thanksgiving holiday two weeks ago. The country deplored on Wednesday more than 3,000 deaths from Covid-19 in 24 hours and more than 220,000 new infections, a level bordering on records, according to data from Johns Hopkins University, which refers.

California, whose entire regions reconfigured at the start of the week, alone recorded more than 30,000 cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, a record for a state in one day, according to the Covid Tracking Project. The number of patients hospitalized in the United States for Covid-19 also continues to break records: more than 106,000 people on Wednesday. For two weeks, the bar of 2,000 daily deaths has been regularly crossed in the United States, as in the spring, at the height of the first wave of the epidemic, which has never really fallen into the country.

Americans, faced with this spectacular rebound, cling to the hope of the imminent distribution of a vaccine. The vaccine data from Pfizer / BioNTech laboratories will be reviewed by independent US experts on Thursday. It could be authorized in the coming days, and Moderna’s vaccine as early as next week. In total, more than 15 million people have contracted Covid-19 in the United States since the start of the pandemic. Nearly 290,000 people died there from the disease.
