Data from the Brazilian Association of Diagnostic Medicine (Abramed) show that the positivity rate of Covid-19 tests carried out in pharmacies grew for the sixth consecutive week.
According to the latest survey, between May 29 and June 4, an increase of 35.3% in positive cases for Covid-19 was observed and 40% more in relation to the number of tests carried out.
According to the association, there was an increase in the rate of positive tests of 2.6% compared to the previous week, and a 40% increase in relation to the number of tests carried out.
The increase in people who tested positive for Covid-19 in this aforementioned period was 43% compared to the immediately preceding week and 501% compared to the first week of May this year.
Still in comparison with the first week of May, there was a 200% increase in the number of tests performed, and a 100.3% increase in the positivity rate.
In absolute numbers, in the week of May 29 to June 4, there were 50,568 tests that came back positive for Covid-19. In the week before that, the number of positive tests was 35,247, and in the first week of May, it was 8,420.
In this last week analyzed, 143,297 tests were carried out for Covid-19 in pharmacies monitored by Abramed in the country, while in the first week of May, 47,803 tests were carried out. In the last few weeks, according to the association, 465,314 tests were carried out.
The numbers corroborate national data that point to an increase in cases of Covid-19 in recent days. According to data released this Tuesday (7) by the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass), Brazil recorded 307 deaths and 71,045 cases of Covid-19 in 24 hours.
With that, the moving average of cases in seven days was 35,304. This number represents a growth of 124% in one month. The indicator on May 7 was 15,756.
According to data from the Ministry of Health (MOH), Brazil has not reached this number of more than 70,000 daily cases since March 4 this year. With this, the city of Rio de Janeiro, for example, recorded long lines this Wednesday at vaccination posts, with people looking for a booster dose against Covid-19.
So far, according to a survey by the Agency CNN , less than 2% of the entire Brazilian population received the second booster dose, which represents a little more than three million people. Currently, 22 states and the Federal District have already started the application of the second booster dose or fourth dose for most immunizers.
