The government of the state of São Paulo today sends a letter requesting authorization from the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) to start vaccinating children between 5 and 11 years old against Covid-19.

Members of the state health team attended a meeting with the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass) on Wednesday (3).

“São Paulo is going to ask Anvisa today to urgently release and authorize vaccination for children aged 5 to 11 years. The government of the state of SP today sends a letter requesting that Anvisa urgently authorize the beginning of the vaccination process for children aged 5 to 11 years. Remembering that countries like Chile, Argentina and Colombia have already started vaccinating children”, said Governor João Doria.

This Tuesday (2), the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) endorsed the recommendation to vaccinate children aged 5 to 11 against Covid-19, paving the way for immediate vaccination of this age group In the USA.
