COVID-19: World Record, With More Than 893,000 Cases In One Day

The Covid-19 epidemic continues to circulate at high speed around the world. This Friday, more than 393,000 cases of Covid-19 have been identified around the globe, a record since the start of the pandemic. In question: the epidemic outbreak which overwhelms India, according to a count from Agence France-Presse communicated this Saturday, April 24, from official sources.

More than a third of these contaminations were indeed deplored in India, which announced 332,730 new contaminations this Friday, then 346,786 on Saturday. Note that these figures are unpublished for a single country so far. Prior to this week, the highest number of officially reported cases stood at 819,000 on January 8. Over a week, more than 5.5 million cases have been recorded worldwide, including almost 2 million in India. This country has also recorded in the last 24 hours a record of deaths, with 2,624 dead. The pandemic has killed nearly 190,000 people there.

Over 145 million positive cases

The other countries currently deploring the most new infections are the United States (490,000 cases in one week), Brazil (459,000) and Turkey (404,000). The threshold of 150 million cases worldwide is expected to be reached next week. According to an AFP count, 145,544,646 cases have been recorded worldwide since the start of the pandemic in December 2019 in China.
