With the circular of 23 September, the Ministry of Health has expanded the audience of those who can undergo the fourth dose of covid vaccine.

As we know in the context of the vaccination campaign Two bivalent formulations of mRNA vaccines are now available: original/omicron BA.1 by Spikevax and Comirnaty and original/BA.4-5 by Comirnaty). These are vaccines based on the same mRNA mechanism of action as the vaccines already used, but updated against virus variants more popular lately.

These vaccines, as specified by the AIFA Technical-Scientific Commission (CTS).have in fact shown the ability to induce a major antibody response than that of the original monovalent vaccine against the variants.

On the level of safetymoreover, again according to what was underlined by the CTS, the available data show no differences compared to the monovalent vaccine native to. Furthermore, there is no evidence that can justify a preferential use of one of the two bivalent vaccines available today.

The two formulations are also bivalent recommended as the first booster dosethe so-called “third dose”, for people aged 12 and over who have not yet received it, regardless of the vaccine administered to complete the primary cycle.

In Lombardy you book through the usual portal reservation vaccine vid. region. lombardia. it or call center at the number 800 894545. The fourth dose is also administered in pharmacies participating in the vaccination campaign, always by booking through the portal.

Brands
