The group most at risk is that between 60 and 79 years. This was revealed by the latest report released by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (Iss) which monitors the spread of Covid in our country. According to the data collected among infected people, ordinary or intensive care hospitalizations and deaths related to Covid, the most vulnerable people are those aged between 60 and 79 years old and that are not vaccinated. In these cases the lethality is thirty times greater compared to those who have undergone both doses of the anti Covid vaccine.
The over 80, unvaccinated, have a chance of death twenty times greater compared to people of the same age group who have been vaccinated. Unvaccinated people over 80 have the 96.69 percent more likely to die compared to those who have been vaccinated.
With age, the risks decrease significantly for the vaccinated. Suffice it to say that in the 60-79 age range, for those who have completed the vaccination cycle the possibility of hospitalization in oxygen deficiency drops by 97.7 percent; 90.57 percent for those who received a single dose. In the last four months, the vaccinated, with double dose, ended up in lack of oxygen were 17.
For those aged between i 40 e i 59 years the possibility of ending up in hospital is reduced by five times: “out of 7.3 million immunized, 89 vaccinated with a full cycle, were hospitalized for Covid”. Finally for the youngest, age 12-39 years, vaccinated, the risk of ending up in intensive care is zero. However, it is also the most difficult category to monitor, as the report points out: “the stigma and fear of any restrictions on their social life resulting from a possible diagnosis” “Underestimation of risk”.
Together with the new ISS data, the new circular of the Ministry of Health has also arrived, announced last August 5, which provides the reduction of the vaccinated quarantine from 10 to 7 days who have had contact with a positive. “They can return to the community after a quarantine period of at least 7 days from the last exposure to the case, at the end of which a molecular or antigen test is performed with a negative result”, explains the circular. For those who have not been vaccinated, or who have not completed the vaccination course for at least 14 days, the quarantine for those who have come into contact with a positive remains 10 days.
