The European Union plans to introduce COVID passports, called the European health certificate, from June 15th. European Commissioner Thierry Breton, responsible for vaccination, announced this, LCI reports.
As noted, the European health certificate has been approved by 27 member states. EU citizens who wish will have to apply for it in their country of origin.
According to Breton, the QR code of the certificate will contain the following data:
– date of birth of the owner;
– the number of his owner’s passport;
– the type of vaccine with which the person was vaccinated (if he was vaccinated);
– if a person was sick with COVID-19, then does he have antibodies;
– if a person is not vaccinated and has not been sick, then the results of PCR tests will be entered into the certificate.
It is reported that the certificate can be installed on a smartphone or printed on paper.
The European Commissioner denied the mandatory nature of the COVID passport, assuring that its use will remain voluntary.
For those who do not want to be vaccinated and have not received immunity, in Europe they plan to organize mass rapid tests, negative results of which will be required, for example, in order to board a plane or get to any event.
It is clarified that the European Commission document on the vaccine certificate states that people without a certificate are more likely to be quarantined by the member states.
The purpose of the certificate is to restore mobility and the ability to move without risk to oneself or others.
“This is the price of the tourist season,” said Thierry Breton.
- On March 17, the European Commission decided how the COVID passport would look like, and what it should contain.
- On March 23, it became known that “COVID-goods” appeared on the darknet – vaccines against coronavirus, negative results of PCR tests, as well as vaccination passports for travel abroad and other purposes.
- Earlier today it was reported that COVID passports were introduced in New York.
