Covid, the Minister of Health Schillaci ready to eliminate the final control swab for the positives

Even looser rules forisolation in case of Sars-CoV-2 infection and relaunch of the vaccination campaign for fourth dose, as the cold season has already begun. These are the news announced by the Minister of Health Horace Schillaciformer rector of the Roman university Tor Vergata: «We are working to ensure that asymptomatic people can after five days return to their activities. We will present a bill on this shortly. Apparently, you won’t even need the final swab. In essence, a swab with which the infection is certified, five days of isolation and we return to society. The only change compared to the current rules for asymptomatic people would therefore be the elimination of the control swab.

“I am convinced,” explained al Corriere della Sera — that we are in a different phase of the Covid-19 disease that today is not the one we saw three years ago. We keep our attention high but we are confident that we can get out of Covid and we think it is important now to think about the many problems that have been left behind with Covid, such as waiting lists and cancer screenings ». The latest circular from the ministry governing isolation for positives – for those, it would be better to say, who still certify their condition, given that the vast majority now manage it independently with do-it-yourself swabs – is from last August 31, obviously signed by Roberto Speranza. Schillaci has said nothing for now about the eventual treatment differentiation for those who have symptoms and for those who do not have any, which at the moment remain: those who do not have any, as mentioned, must do five days plus the antigenic or molecular swab and those who have must always do at least five days but with the last two without symptoms, a condition that often extends the period to several days. Added to this of course is a negative test.

Bet on trust, Schillaci: «It is clear that those who come out of isolation without the diagnostic test will have to have a sense of responsibility and wear a mask in case of contact with fragile people. We focus on persuasion not on obligations. It’s not a slack. We are adapting to the virus, now endemic, with which we must learn to live with ». From tomorrow, however, it will start «the new campaign on the fourth dose recommended to the fragile together with the anti flu which this year has already begun to show itself aggressive ».

At the moment there are just over five million Italians who have received the fourth dose of an anti-Covid vaccine, that is 26.46% of the audience to which it is indicated and overall – considering that everyone can do it from the age of 12 – as soon as 8.54% of the population. Too little for a safe winter.
