“CPI will assess the motivation of Petrobras’ board of directors in the readjustments”, says government leader

the federal deputy Ricardo Barros (PP-PR) said this Friday (17) that the purpose of installing a Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) to investigate the Petrobras will be to assess the motivation of the company’s Board of Directors and Council to readjust the price of fuel.

This Friday, the state-owned company announced an increase of 5.18% in Gasoline and 14.26% in the diesel .

“There is a clear dissonance of Petrobras’ decision with its creation, which speaks of the public interest, of tariff dampening. It is necessary to relocate Petrobras in its place as a publicly controlled company, looking at the interests of its majority shareholder, which is the people”, defended the government leader in the Chamber of Deputies in an interview with CNN 360º .

For him, the state-owned company can perfectly practice an integrated management policy that allows it to have positive, adequate profits without sacrificing the consumer.

Petrobras CPI

According to the deputy, the CPI will aim to evaluate the decisions that Petrobras has taken over that time. “[Avaliar] the conduct of its management and its board, what is the motivation behind these deliberations. It is necessary to investigate the reasons that lead these leaders to make these decisions without considering the impact that this has on society as a whole, and having profits far above companies in the sector”, pointed out the parliamentarian.

During the interview, Barros also claimed to see no correlation between the elections and the possible installation of the CPI, the approval of projects that reduce ICMS on fuels and the change in the presidency of Petrobras. “Other countries are taking the same measures that Brazil is taking. There is a worldwide problem generated by the war between Russia and Ukraine,” he explained.
