‘Crazy’ US chase: 12-year-old steals 17-tonne forklift and hits the streets – ‘Stop now’

A juvenile boy stole one 17 ton forklift and led the officers to persecution at slow speed. According to police in Michigan, the 12-year-old stole the vehicle after finding it unlocked with the keys inside, and took to the streets of Ann Arbor.

In the video from persecution which took place at speeds of 20 to 30 km/h, police officers can be heard shouting at the 12-year-old “Stop now!”, while at the same time warning their colleagues that the child is lowering the hooks and that is why no one should be in front of the heavy vehicle. The police were notified at 18:45 local time and a short time later officers spotted the boy with the lift moving at low speed, but with the lights off.

“It was a dangerous situation that could have resulted in serious injuries,” a spokesperson said police. No one was injured in the incident.

The pursuit ended just before 8pm on Saturday night when the young driver simply stopped driving, having in total cause damage to 10 vehicles. The 12-year-old was eventually arrested and taken to a reformatory.
