“Creatine war”: Soldiers denounce link between investigator and influencer from rival brand

The investigation involving Soldiers Nutrition, a food supplement company led by Yuri Silveira de Abreu and Fabiula de Arruda Freire, known as the “creatine kings”, gained a new chapter this Wednesday (4).

In documents signed by lawyers Fabio Tavares and Eduardo Krasovic, the defense points to a possible link between a digital influencer, who has already stated that he was sponsored by competing brands, and one of the case’s investigators. Furthermore, lawyers question disparities in the criteria adopted by the investigation, highlighting that a rival company, with more complaints registered on the “Reclame Aqui” platform – the central point of the investigations – was not included in the investigation.

Soldiers is the target of investigations for alleged crimes of ideological falsehood and infractions against consumer relations. Since October, police actions have resulted in the seizure of the brand’s products and the closure of a factory linked to the company.

Now, the couple’s lawyers question the impartiality of the investigation, suggesting that the case may be tainted by conflicts of interest and a lack of evidence.

Print reveals dialogue between influencer and alleged investigator

In documents presented by the defense, there is a print of a conversation published by the influencer, who has more than 150 thousand followers, between Facebook and Instagram . In the message, a profile identified by the initials “RA” and displaying a 1939 medal requests help in finding Soldiers victims.

“The Civil Police is striving to do an impeccable job, but we depend on the collaboration of the media so that victims are aware and contact us”, says the excerpt of the message.

According to the process documents, the profile that sent the message to the influencer has another profile with the same photo on the social network historical battles and wars”.

The defense claims that “coincidentally or not” the profile would be that of a Deic (State Department of Criminal Investigations) investigator, as a report signed by a police officer with a similar name was included in the file.

For lawyers, this suggests a “reversal of order” in the conduct of the case, with police officers seeking evidence to justify the actions already carried out.

Investigation and next steps

Soldiers Nutrition is under investigation by the 3rd Financial Fraud Police Station. Police officers from the State Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic), of the São Paulo Civil Police, had already seized thousands of units of the company’s food supplements last month during the execution of warrants against businesspeople.

According to those responsible for the case, the investigation investigates crimes such as ideological falsehood and infractions against consumer relations attributed to the company SDN Comércio de Produtos Alimentícios e Artigos Esportivos Ltda.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office recently requested clarification about the crimes being investigated, and the police responded, detailing the suspicions. Now, they have 60 days to complete the investigation.

The Public Security Secretariat (SSP) reported that the case is under investigation by the State Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic). “A digital influencer, who had already received complaints from consumers about problems with the investigated company’s products, was instructed to inform possible victims to contact the police to formalize their complaints. The investigation is not limited to these complaints and covers other relevant aspects. Additional information remains confidential to preserve the progress of the investigation.”

When contacted, Soldiers preferred not to comment on the case.
