Civil police officers arrested a man suspected of carrying out “false loan” scams last Wednesday (23). The individual was located in Pavuna, north of Rio de Janeiro.
During the investigations, the owner of a loan company – whose name was not disclosed – gave a statement in which he reported the employee’s alleged actions against the victims.
During his testimony, the businessman stated that the employee would be carrying out this type of scam on INSS, social security and other institutions beneficiaries.
How the fake loan scam works
According to the Civil Police, the author made loans that were deposited into the victim’s account. He would then contact the beneficiary to confirm the loan amount.
As the victim did not recognize the loan, she requested some way to return it. The author then generated a bill for the exact amount and claimed that his payment would be sufficient to prove the return of the transaction. The amount was deposited into the criminal’s account, not the institution’s.
