Credit of € 20.3 million to 1,463 farmers for damage to crop production affected by summer fires

The Ministries of Finance and Rural Development and Food, in close cooperation and with the important contribution of the Hellenic Agricultural Insurance Organization (ELGA), proceed today, after the issuance of the relevant Joint Ministerial Decision (Government Gazette BD 1963), to credit a total amount of 20,332 .267.20 euros to 1,463 farmers as an advance payment of the subsidy of the victims for the damages they suffered in the plant means of production, according to the special procedure foreseen.

The new procedure is adapted to the specifics of these damages, takes into account the data available from ELGA and is based on the experience and specialization of the Organization.

Taking into account the extent and intensity of the summer fires and the damages caused to the plant production means, following a relevant suggestion of the Governmental State Aid Committee, with the Joint Ministerial Decision, an advance of 35% on the initial estimated damage to plants is granted. means of production.

The initial assessment of the losses was made on the basis of markings and digital data available to ELGA, such as the data of the European Satellite Information System “Copernicus”, as well as on the basis of an initial estimation price, which amounts to 144 euros per olive tree and 96 euros per tree for other tree crops, according to the relevant suggestion of the Governmental State Aid Committee.

The advance, therefore, amounts to 50.40 euros per olive tree and 33.60 euros per tree for other tree crops.

It should be noted that the advance payment of the subsidy for damage to plant products:

– It is granted to farmers through ELGA.
– It was calculated on the basis of the available data of ELGA and the initial assessment of losses, while it is specialized per agricultural holding based on the data submitted to the Integrated Control Management System (IACS).
– It concerns farmers in the areas of the prefectures of Arcadia, Attica, Achaia, Evia, Ilia, Laconia, Messinia and Fokidos that were affected by the fires of summer 2021.
– It concerns, at this stage, mainly farmers who have submitted the single aid declaration to the Integrated Control Management System.

In the next phase, the relevant grant process will be activated for non-main farmers, who meet the necessary conditions.

In the next stage, according to the procedure, the final assessment of the damages will follow, specialized per agricultural holding, based on autopsies and estimates of ELGA and based on final assessment price, per type of perennial cultivation and severity of the damage. On the basis of this final assessment, the final subsidy of the agricultural holdings for the damages to the crop means of production will be determined, in which the given advance will be included, as well as the first aid granted to agricultural holdings through arogi.gov.gr.

The relevant Ministries and agencies continue to provide practical support to those affected by the recent fires and intervene with the necessary initiatives and adjustments where necessary, achieving – for the first time – faster and more effective compensation procedures, compared to past and time-consuming financial processes. Aid to support the victims, the local economy and society.
