Cressida Bonas and Chelsy Davy, so Prince Harry remembers (in Spare) his ex-girlfriends

In the bomb memorial Shoot there is also space for the historic ex girlfriends of prince Harry: Chelsy Davy And Cressida Bonas. Both have long since moved on, and have built a family away from the court: Chelsy in March 2022 became the mother of a child born of love with her husband, hotelier Sam Cutmore-Scott; a few months later, Cressida Bonas’ first child was born, married to real estate agent Harry Wentworth-Stanley. Harry has maintained good relations with both, so much so that the two they were at the royal wedding with Meghan Markle in 2018. According to the British press, the prince, in the summer of 2022, asked his exes for an editorial contribution to Shoot. The answer? A sharp double “no”. Nonetheless, both Davy and Bonas are tenderly remembered in the book-bomb.

Harry met Chelsy in South Africaat the Berkshire Polo Club in Cape Town, in 2004. And now in Shoot he devotes several pages to her, describing her as a girl “different from all the others”. Totally disinterested in her royal status: “Oh, are you a prince?” (yawn). He knew nothing of my biography, least of all of my family. Grandma, Willy, dad… who are they? Better still, it left her indifferent (…) It was love at first sight, on both sides». That first meeting was followed by three days in Botswana, spent “walking, laughing, drinking and watching the animals”. It was there that the two met they kissed «for the first time under the stars». Thus was born an intense relationship that lasted seven years. The story ended in the spring of 2010after several back and forth, because Chelsy she wanted a life away from the spotlight. “She doesn’t like the baggage I carry around: she doesn’t like everything involving noble titles and the press…», writes Harry in Shoot. Admitting: «Sure, I missed it, but I completely understood his desire for freedom».

After Chelsy in Harry’s life entered Cressida Bonas. To present them, in 2012, was Eugenie of York, a close friend of Cressida. Immediately “a spark flew”, but the first kiss attempt from Harry ended in a solemn one fool: «A few weeks later, at the end of another appointment, I gave her a lift home. “I’m at the crossroads with King’s Road.” (…) I accompanied her to the top of the stairs. He didn’t invite me in. I didn’t expect her to, nor did I want to. “Let’s go slow,” I thought. I approached to give her a kiss but I missed. Was I able to hit a cactus three miles away with a Hellfire missile and not be able to find his lips? As he turned I tried again, and we somehow managed to touch each other. A painfully awkward moment». Despite the awkward incipit the story took off: «Before I knew it we were a couple». And they remained until 2015when the story ended because Cressida, just like Chelsy, could not stand the pressure of the court and the media interest sparked by the story with the prince.
