Crew members of plane seized in Argentina returned to Venezuela

At Venezuela have been since Friday the 12 Boeing 747 crew members held since June in Argentina;after it was seized and is being investigated for its involvement in terrorist-related activities.

“We celebrate their arrival”Venezuela’s Minister of Transportation, Ramon Velázquez, told the Telesur network from Caracas International Airport, describing the crew members “patterns of revolutionary struggle”.

Court of Argentinian approved last Tuesday the departure of 12 of the 19 crew members.

The freighter was sold to Venezuela’s Emtrasur by Iran’s Mahan Air.

It landed in Buenos Aires in early June, with a crew of Venezuelans and Iranians. His arrival caused a diplomatic uproar in Argentina. The country has been accused of supporting Iran and Venezuela, against which the US has imposed sanctions. Argentina seized the aircraft and in August seized it at the request of US judicial authorities.

Of the 12 freed crew members, 11 are Venezuelan and one is Iranian. Three other Venezuelans and four Iranians – members of the plane’s crew – were not allowed to leave Argentina.

Venezuela’s Transport Minister Ramon Velasquez stressed that their detention is illegal.

The arrest of the crew members sparked protests in Caracas demanding their return.

Iran and Venezuela maintain close ties and last June signed a 20-year cooperation agreement.
