The teams that worked on cleaning the tracks, after the serious accident that left more than 200 dead in India, found a man alive two days after the collision between trains.
The teams had already ended the search for survivors and were cleaning the tracks, when they found the young man unconscious this Monday (5). He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries to his head and hands.
It was India’s worst rail accident in over two decades, with at least 275 people killed and 1,200 injured. Crews are still working to remove the wreckage from the crash site.
Indian authorities officially opened an investigation into the accident on Monday. A preliminary analysis has already pointed out that a signaling failure may have caused the collision involving two passenger trains and one freight train, last Friday.
One of the trains left the main track and entered a line used only for parking trains. Then it collided with a freight locomotive that was stopped.
Traffic began to be released today and the first trains are already in circulation.
