Criminal crimes committed by women and burned in fire – from beheadings to male poisoning

When talking about the most brutal murders in history, the perpetrators are usually men. So when women take out their knives, their crimes always cause a special feeling. In modern times, such incidents of female violence are rare, while in the era of William Shakespeare, in the 16th and 17th centuries, they were even rarer. However, as police officer and historian Blessin Adams reveal in her new book, women in Britain of the Early Modern Era were fully capable of committing heinous crimes. Her work entitled “Thou Savage Woman: Female Killers in Early Modern Britain” records cases of horrible murders committed by women. From the murders of abusive spouses to the murder of brutal employers, these incidents are recorded through modern testimonies and court records.
