“Criminal organization” was created within the MEC, says PF

The Federal Police says that the pair of pastors who worked within the Ministry of Education during the administration of former minister Milton Ribeiro used accounts from relatives to receive bribes arising from business in the portfolio.

The information is contained in the decision that authorized the arrest of the former minister and pastors Gilmar Santos and Arilton Ribeiro. All the arrests were revoked this Thursday by the judge Ney Belo, of the Federal Court.

According to the PF, a sophisticated scheme was set up by what the entity classifies as a “criminal organization” within the MEC.

The Police also found that the wife of former minister Milton Ribeiro received or ceded values to relatives of the pair of pastors.

The investigation also points out that an ally of the investigated duo was appointed to a position within the Ministry of Education. This character even traveled with the shepherds and participated in events with them.

THE CNN had access to the decision of Judge Renato Borelli, who became the target of threats after ordering the arrest of Bolsonaro’s former minister. In the text, the judge also points out findings from the General Office of the Union, which subsidized the investigation.

In addition to the arrest of three of those involved, which has already been revoked, the judge ordered the breach of the secrecy of those cited in the case, as requested by the PF. The request for arrest also came from the PF, on the grounds that those investigated could obstruct the investigation and destroy evidence.

The MPF was in favor of breaking confidentiality, but suggested precautionary measures, such as a ban on communication between the aforementioned, as an alternative to preventive detention, which the judge denied.

The defense of former minister Milton Ribeiro only had access to the decision this Thursday. She classified the former minister’s arrest as illegal and extemporaneous, an argument accepted by the TRF-1 judge.
