A chapel located in Sorocaba (SP), around 100 kilometers from the capital of São Paulo, was invaded by criminals in the early hours of last Thursday (28).
The doors of the Santa Cruz chapel were broken down and the electrical wiring was ripped out, but what shocked the parish community the most was the violation of the tabernacle, which resulted in the theft of consecrated hosts.
During the criminals’ action, objects such as sound equipment, a mower, electrical wires, vases and other objects of religious value were taken by the robbers. A police report was registered.
After the crime, activities at the church were suspended. The Archdiocese of Sorocaba reported that it is already taking action to replace the items taken by the bandits.
So far, no one has been arrested.
