Criminals use a garbage truck as a barricade in a police operation in Rio

A truck from Comlurb, a garbage company that serves Rio de Janeiro, was used by criminals to prevent military police from entering during an operation in the west zone of the capital of Rio de Janeiro, this Wednesday morning (28).

According to the company, the driver and street cleaners who were carrying out home collection were arrested at the entrance to Vila Aliança, in Bangu. The bandits forced the employees to cross the vehicle when accessing the community.

According to Comlurb, no one was injured and collection will resume as soon as the public safety situation is normalized in the region.

According to the PM, buses would also have been used to contain the advance of the police, who also had to remove burning barricades to enter the community.

The teams, which are spread out in strategic points inside Vila Aliança, were attacked by gunfire and there was a confrontation. A rifle and drugs have been seized so far. As a result, the corporation counts 107 rifles taken from the hands of criminals this year alone in the state.

During the action, the intense exchange of gunfire frightened residents. The Military Police operation also takes place in the Senador Camará region and aims to curb criminal groups and seize drugs and weapons.

Due to the confrontation, according to the Rio Municipal Department of Education, some schools in seven Vila Aliança and eight in Senador Camará suspended classes, impacting more than 4,400 students.
