Criminals robbed, using weapons and explosives, the toll plaza from the Ecovias dealership on Rodovia Padre Manoel da Nóbrega (SP-055), in São Vicente, on the coast of São Paulo, in the early hours of this Monday (9). During the assault, some Drivers passing by were taken hostage .
As determined by CNN the incident began around 3:40 am, near the Humaitá neighborhood, in the Continental Area of São Vicente. According to the Transport Agency of the State of São Paulo (Artesp), ten criminals participated in the robbery.
Five of them invaded the toll plaza using explosives and the other five remained outside, stopping drivers and holding them hostage outside their vehicles. The explosives were used to open a safe at the toll plaza. As a result of the explosion, a criminal died at the scene.
Also according to Artesp, during the incident, the robbers stole the vehicle of one of the drivers taken hostage. Dealership employees and drivers were not injured.
The place was closed and the Military Highway Police called in the investigation. There is still no information about prisoners.
THE CNN contacted the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP) and Ecovias for more information about the case. However, there was no response until the last update of this report.
