Criminals used a luxury house in MG as a bunker to store stolen objects

A luxury house, located in Santa Luzia, metropolitan region of the capital of Minas Gerais, was used by a criminal group as a deposit for stolen objects.

According to delegate Gustavo Barletta, the location was discovered during the execution of court warrants against members of the criminal organization.

“The place was used as a banker, many luxury objects and electronic devices were recovered there, and there is evidence that parties were held by those investigated”, he concluded.

The objects seized during the searches have already been recognized by some victims.

According to the Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG), the conclusion of the investigation that found thefts in luxury residences in the state of Minas Gerais was presented this Tuesday (30). Three men, aged 25 and 29, suspected of involvement in at least 30 incidents in the cities of Ouro Branco, João Monlevade, Divinópolis, Contagem and Belo Horizonte, were indicted and are being arrested on court warrants. The approximate value of the loss reaches R$2 million.

According to the head of the Operational Division of the State Department for the Investigation of Crimes Against Property (Depatri), delegate João Prata, the suspects were being investigated since the invasion of a building in the Comiteco neighborhood, Central-South region of the capital, at the turn of the year. “They stole seven apartments and stole valuables, such as jewelry, money and vehicles, with an estimated loss of R$1 million.”

In surveys, the team from the 2nd Police Station Specialized in Investigation and Repression of Theft and Robbery, belonging to Depatri, found that a mastermind behind the crimes had been arrested in Rio de Janeiro, by the Federal Highway Police, at the beginning of the month. “After the arrest of the leader of the criminal organization, we identified a man who acted as a substitute in the group to continue the crimes”, declared delegate Gustavo Barletta.

The monitoring of the other members was carried out by police officers who discovered the arrest in the act of three people involved in a theft in the Pampulha region, in the capital. “We had an ongoing investigation awaiting court orders. With the arrest of the trio, there was a speed in the process to execute the warrants in a timely manner, before the custody hearing took place”, reported Barletta.

The suspects have several police records, including homicide, theft, vehicle tampering and drug trafficking. Investigations continue to identify the likely recipients of the criminal group.
