A journalist rescued Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban when the inflatable boat he was riding in off the Dalmatian coast began to lose air and was in danger of sinking, the German News Agency (dpa) reported citing a Croatian newspaper.
The incident took place over the weekend in a bay on the island of Vis in the Adriatic.
“The inflatable dinghy popped and I pulled him, his wife and their bodyguard to shore,” journalist Boris Vrkic told Croatian newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija.
The journalist, who previously worked with this newspaper, was photographed on his boat with the Prime Minister of Hungary by his side.
Viktor Orban remained in good spirits after the incident and enjoyed his meal at a beach restaurant, Vrkic said.
The 59-year-old prime minister of Hungary, who appeared a few days ago at a rally of supporters of former US President Donald Trump in Texas, often chooses Croatia for his summer vacation.
