More than half of new car sales in Russia are now accounted for by SUV models. Approximately 60% of new cars sold in October in the domestic market are crossovers and SUVs, as evidenced by the results of a study by Avtostat Info.
According to Avtostat Info, a total of 45,419 new cars were sold in the country in October 2022. And 59.3% of them, or 26,922 units in quantitative terms, were SUVs. This is a 2.3% increase compared to September, when sales of new SUVs and crossovers amounted to 26,329 units.
The leader among SUVs in the Russian market remains the domestic SUV LADA Niva, which was chosen by 4165 buyers in October against 3160 in September (an increase of +32%). In second place in popularity is the Chinese compact crossover Haval Jolion, whose sales in Russia from September to October increased by 41% from 2163 to 3056 units. Bronze went to Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, which sold 2,214 units last month, down 5.7% from September. The TOP-5 also included Geely Coolray and Hyundai Tucson with sales of 1,419 units (-4% compared to September) and 875 units (-20.7%), respectively.
