Cruzeiro and Palmeiras fans get involved in a fight on the Fernão Dias highway

Organized fans from Cruzeiro and Palmeiras got involved in a fight on the Fernão Dias highway, in Minas Gerais, at the height of kilometer 592, in the municipality of Carmópolis de Minas, on the morning of this Wednesday (28).

According to preliminary information from the Federal Highway Police (PRF), at least four people were shot and taken to hospitals in the region. Arteris, the highway concessionaire, reported that two victims were treated with minor injuries and two in moderate condition.

The administrator also pointed out that there was a total ban on the stretch where the fight took place, but that traffic was normalized at 12:30 pm. PRF teams, with support from the Military Police (PM) of Minas Gerais, were moved to the scene. The Civil Police is also investigating the incident.

Images circulating on social media show a man in the midst of dozens of supporters of the Mafia Azul, from Cruzeiro, being assaulted. He has been identified as a member of Mancha Verde.

Palmeiras plays at 9:45 pm this Wednesday against Atlético Mineiro, in Belo Horizonte, for the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. Cruzeiro will play a match against Ponte Preta, at 7pm, in Campinas, for Série B of the Brasileirão. The organized groups were moving to the cities where the clashes will take place.

On Twitter, the Blue Mafia stated that it acted in “legitimate defense to defend the integrity” of the fans. A video circulating on social media shows Paulo Serdan, president of honor of the organized Palmeiras, confirming that the fans were involved in this Wednesday’s fight. According to him, “there is no information from anyone [em estado] more serious”. Mancha Verde has not yet made an official statement.
