Crypto.com cryptocurrency exchange has signed a four-year sponsorship agreement for the Angel City FC (ACFC) professional women’s soccer team.
According to an article on the ACFC blog, Crypto.com will act as the official partner of the football team. This is the first direct sponsorship agreement for a professional women’s sports team from a major cryptocurrency platform.
The ACFC is expected to debut in 2022. Alexis Ohanian, founder of Seven Seven Six and lead investor in ACFC, said the deal would help position the football club as a leader in its field and would mark a “turning point” for women’s sports.
Crypto.com said in a statement that the sponsorship agreement “will serve to increase access and awareness of cryptocurrencies, blockchain and Web3 technologies for Los Angeles football fans and ACFC players.” According to Sports Business Journal, the deal is worth “seven figures a year.”
Crypto.com is expanding its presence in the world of professional sports. The agreement with ACFC has expanded the exchange’s list of global sports partnerships, which includes the UFC, F1, Paris Saint-Germain, NBA Philadelphia 76ers, NHL Montreal Canadiens, Fnatic esports team, Lega Serie A and others.
Earlier, the FTX cryptocurrency derivatives exchange received the rights to international support for the American basketball club NBA Golden State Warriors.
