Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, said that the authorities are discussing the need for mandatory verification of users, in fact equating legal crypto exchanges to banks.

At the Yekaterinburg Cybersecurity in Finance forum, the parliamentarian said that it would be necessary to identify users on cryptocurrency exchanges. We are talking about providing passport data, as commercial banks do. The deputies are now discussing the finalization of the bill on mining in order to make it responsible for illegal transfers in digital assets.

“If we legalize crypto exchanges, then obviously they should also use the identification mechanism, working through it. The identification system should be similar to that in banks. We are approaching serious decisions, and the topic of responsibility for working outside the law should be spelled out. In order for the infrastructure to start working and the mechanisms to work, at the same time there was the responsibility of those who do not comply with the law while working on the crypto market, ”the chairman of the Duma committee emphasized.

Earlier, Stanislav Kuznetsov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank, spoke at the Ural forum, saying that the main state bank had revealed record volumes of illegal cryptocurrency transfers that go through exchangers in Moscow City.
