Crypto -hackers stole $ 5.2 million in April

Fraudulent attacks on cryptocurrency users are becoming more and more sophisticated. In April, attackers stole more than $ 5.2 million.

According to SCAM Sniffer, compared with March, the damage from the actions of crypto -mesh decreased by 17%. However, the number of victims increased by 26% – last month, 7,565 users suffered from Fishinla.

As analysts found out, in April the most ambitious incident was the incident related to phishing through the signing of transactions. The victim unconsciously approved a series of malicious requests for transferring funds, due to which the attackers managed to completely devastate its wallet. In total, they stole $ 1.4 million.

Another remarkable case was associated with the substitution of the address. The unsuspecting user lost $ 700,000, sending funds to a fake wallet visually identical to the one with which he interacted earlier.

According to SCAM Sniffer experts, cybercriminals continue to “pump” their tactics, going beyond the traditional phishing. Recently, they are increasingly using artificial intelligence (AI) to deceive users through popular messengers.

The founder of the blockchain security platform Slowmist Yu Xiang warned that the attackers learned to hack accounts in Telegram. Cybercriminals analyze the history of correspondence and voice messages. Then, with the help of AI, they generate a voice indistinguishable from the real. In the messages, scammers are asked to urgently transfer cryptocurrency to a “temporary wallet”, which actually belongs to them, and not familiar victims.

Earlier, due to a complex scheme of social engineering, a pensioner from the United States lost 3,520 bitcoins (BTC) in the amount of more than $ 330 million. The well-known blockchain-detective ZACHXBT and the BINANCE security team were able to frozen and return the victim only $ 7 million.
