The launch of the WAP memcoin by American hip-hop artist Cardi B has raised suspicions among security experts who have linked the crypto wallet address to rug pull schemes.

Yesterday, October 8, the official account of hip-hop singer Cardi B on the social network X posted advertising post about the launch of a new fan memecoin WAP with a cat theme and the abbreviation “Wet Ass Pussy”. A wallet address was attached to the message, which aroused suspicion among crypto experts that the performer’s post was a fake and an attempt to drag her fans into a fraudulent scheme.

Experts from the cybersecurity company PeckShield suspected that a fraudster could have hacked Cardi B’s account on social network X, since the crypto wallet indicated in the post was on the “black list” and appeared in numerous “rug pull” schemes related to the distribution of memcoins of popular media personalities .

Blockchain data visualization platform BubbleMaps recordedthat nearly 60% of the WAP token supply, totaling approximately $500,000, was pooled at launch and reset within 10 hours after the start of the project.

“In an attempt to hide all suspicious wallets participating in the merger from Bubblemaps experts, they transferred their tokens to completely new addresses 4 hours ago, but this was an unsuccessful attempt,” Bubblemaps said.

Previously, hackers hacked OpenAI’s official account on social network X to promote a fake $OPEANAI token and promised users early access to the artificial intelligence (AI) company’s future beta programs.
