A fake Tesla channel has appeared on YouTube, distributing a video featuring Elon Musk, who is allegedly debating Donald Trump. The scammers promise users free distribution of BTC, ETH, DOGE and USDT.

The video has already been viewed over 60,000 times. The so-called live broadcast included footage of Elon Musk speaking to an audience at the plant. At first glance, the video looks pretty convincing. However, if you look closely, you’ll notice that “Elon Musk’s” mouth movements don’t match the words he’s saying. In addition, the real verified Tesla YouTube channel has over 2.6 million subscribers, not 31.5 thousand.

The video has a provocative headline: “LIVE NEWS: Elon Musk joins Donald Trump in heated debate with Kamala Harris!” First, the scammers tried to make it look like Musk was discussing with Trump the issues surrounding regulation and energy consumption in cryptocurrency mining. Then, the scammers tried to lure viewers to a phishing site by promising to give away double the amount of cryptocurrency, depending on the amount they sent.

“You are about to witness a completely unique event that will completely change your belief in cryptocurrency and perhaps even your life. Right now, we are doubling your cryptocurrency,” said deepfake Elon Musk.

This isn’t the first time scammers have stolen cryptocurrency using Elon Musk’s image. In July, they stole $28,500 by faking an online broadcast of Musk’s speech at the Bitcoin 2024 conference, where he allegedly promised free cryptocurrency giveaways.
