Cuba: Powerful 6.8 magnitude earthquake and tsunami warning

A second, stronger earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale hit Cuba late Sunday afternoon (11/10/2024), one hour after the 5.9-magnitude tremor, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS) and the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC). In fact, after the strongest earthquake of 6.8 Richter, a tsunami warning was issued on the southeastern coast of Cuba. The stronger of the two tremors occurred at 18:49 on Sunday evening – Greek time – (11:49 in the morning local time), as announced by the US Geological Survey (USGS) and the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC). So far, there are no reports of any injuries or serious property damage. It is recalled that a magnitude 5.9 earthquake preceded this at 17:50 Greek time (10:50 am local time). At 14 kilometers is the focal depth of 6.8 Richter and at 10 kilometers of 5.9 R.
