A young woman Australian thought of an original, truth be told, way to avoid being charged for an overweight bag at the airport, however he failed to avoid the ‘bell’.
19-year-old Adriana Ocampo wore six kilos of clothes (!) however, as reported by Independent her attempt failed as she was fined $62.
“I’m short and petite, but I looked the exact opposite,” she said, adding that the couple saw airline staff bring out a trolley with scales as they went to board.
“We thought the only way to take the weight off our bags was to put it on ourselves, so we started putting on our jackets and coats,” he said.
“In addition to the layers of jackets and sweaters, I had worn baggy pants and stuffed them with t-shirts and my iPad inside them. I was wearing about six layers of clothes and had things in my pockets.”
“Everyone in the queue was looking at us and laughing at us, it was kind of embarrassing. People were annoyed that we were delaying the plane,” he said afterwards.
Adriana Ocampo, 19, was flying to Adelaide from Melbourne and can be seen laughing with her friend Emily Altamura, also 19.
The airline commented that, “While we certainly see the funny side, we have limits to carry-on to make it fair for everyone.”#australiangirl #OverWeight pic.twitter.com/DVBsYV2VFw— Pakistantimestoday (@Pktimetoday) May 22, 2023
