The aircraft manufacturer Embraer said this Tuesday (24) that there is no contractual provision for a further reduction in the order of KC-390 cargo planes by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), according to a statement to the market.
The manufacturer said that it became aware of the Union’s intention to unilaterally reduce from 22 to 15 the total number of aircraft provided for in two contracts signed in 2014.
The new decrease in orders was reported the day before by the newspaper O Globo, which quoted a statement by the FAB commander, Brigadier Carlos de Almeida Baptista Júnior.
Sought on Monday (23), Embraer had only said that “it has a contract with the FAB for the supply of 22 units”, without further details.
Embraer announced in February that it had closed a contractual amendment with the FAB to cut KC-390s contracts, from 28 to 22 units. The agreement came after a “complex negotiation process”, Embraer said, as the FAB had shown, in November last year, its intention to reduce orders to 15.
